Artists' Books
|
|
Poetry, Short Stories, Essays
in English and in Spanish
written and bound by Alex Appella
|
All artists' books displayed below were written, designed and
hand-bound by Alex Appella. Alex, originally from Oregon, began binding her books on a boat in
Alaska, with the idea that original literature should be accessible,
both for the writer and for the reader. After traveling half-way
around the world with a mini-bookbinding workshop on her back
(including a typewriter), and selling her artists' books on the
streets and plazas of Latin America, Alex now makes them in her home
in Argentina, and offers them through internet.
Thanks to Bill & Vicky Stewart of Vamp & Tramp Booksellers,
Alex Appella's artists' books can be found in the collections at
The Getty in LA, Brown University, University of Miami,
University of Washington, University of Vermont, Mills College,
UC Santa Barbara, Lafayette College, UC San Diego, Stanford University,
Yale University, Brown University, Williams College, Wesleyan College,
Smith College, and UC Irvine.
Alex Appella's writing reflects her well-traveled world and daily
experiences. It is recommended you taste the contents of these books
by reading the samples included in each listing, (or by purchasing one,
of course).

3 of which are also available in Spanish.
