INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING DISCLAIMER:
Customs Fees
International orders sometimes incur a customs fee. You are responsible for paying the customs and import duties. We cannot determine in advance what these charges will be. Please contact your local customs office to determine the customs costs. It is your full responsibility to verify the customs, duties charges and procedures in your country prior to placing your order.
We have found that customs fees are not always incurred on books we ship, no matter the declared value. Despite extensive investigation on our part, we cannot determine when and why customs decides to charge fees on any given shipment. We apologize for the inconvenience. As a mail order company, we wish we were able to provide more certain information for our international clients.
SHIPPING DISCLAIMER:
Transient Books only guarantees the safe arrival of books that are
shipped INSURED. We do not replace un-insured items that are lost or
damaged in the mail. After all the effort we put into making each and
every book, we are more than glad to replace INSURED books should they
suffer in transit. However, we no longer replace UN-INSURED books at
our own expense. Damaged or lost items are few and far between, but they do occur. Please take precautions.
A NOTE ON OUR FRIENDS, THE CUSTOMS INSPECTORS: If your book is damaged by the customs inspectors (either US customs, or the customs folks in your country), we ask that you return the book to us and we'll either remake it for you or refund the cost of the book to you (but not shipping cost). Customs has the right to damage books! A terrible thing. It happens once or twice a year, and it's a very big bummer for us and for the client. Insurance does not cover damage incurred by customs agents. We just have to work around it and come to a solution with the client.
